A fold that sticks is usually caused by the seat facing you or sitting in the wrong recline, something still attached to the frame, or grit in the fold joints. Work through the checks for your model below. Never force the frame.
Check these first
- The brake is on.
- The bassinet, a RumbleSeat or a Mesa capsule is off. They must come off before you fold.
- The basket is light. Take anything heavy out.
- The fold joints and the locking latch are clean. Grit collects there. Wipe them with warm water and a soft cloth and dry them. Never oil or lubricate them, as oil attracts more grit.
Vista V3

- The toddler seat must face forward, away from you, reclined to the second most upright position, with the canopy closed. A seat facing you, or in the wrong recline, is the most common reason the fold sticks.
- The front wheel locks must be off. The frame will not fold properly with them locked.
- Raise the handlebar to its highest position before you squeeze the two fold triggers.
Cruz V3
- The toddler seat must face forward, away from you, reclined to the second most upright position, with the canopy closed. The Cruz V3 will not fold with the seat facing you.
- Take the bassinet or a Mesa capsule off first.
- The front wheel locks must be off. Like the Vista V3, the frame will not fold properly with them locked.
- Push the handlebar down to its lowest position. The Cruz V3 folds with the handlebar at its lowest.
- For a smaller fold, tuck the footrest away. The bumper bar goes down by itself as the pram folds.
Minu V3

- Take a Mesa capsule off, then fold the capsule adapters down. The adapters can stay on and fold with the stroller.
- The bumper bar and snack tray can stay on. Press the button on each side and move them up before you fold.
- The seat folds in any recline, but the Minu V3 folds best with the seat upright.
- With the brake on, slide and squeeze the button on the handlebar at the same time, then check the safety latch on the frame has caught.
Kona
The Kona launches in Australia in October 2026. It is the only UPPAbaby pram that folds with its seat facing either way.
If it will not unfold
The Vista V3, Cruz V3 and Minu V3 lock themselves shut when folded. Release the lock first: on the Vista V3 and Cruz V3 it is the auto-lock latch on the side of the frame (on the left side of the Cruz V3), and on the Minu V3 it is the safety latch on the side of the frame.
Then lift the handlebar up and back until the frame clicks open. Check the frame is fully open and locked before you put your child in.
If it will not click shut or stay folded
Check the seat position and the list above first. If the frame folds but will not lock shut, the locking latch may be worn. A worn latch is a part you can replace, and there are short videos for the Vista V3 and Cruz V3 below and on the how-to videos page.
Latches are version specific, so photograph the white label near the rear axle, which shows the model and version. To order a V3 locking latch, lodge a request with that photo. A free Tune-Up Day will also check, clean and adjust the fold for you.
When to stop and lodge a request
Stop using the pram if the frame will not lock open, if something is bent or cracked, or if the fold still sticks after these checks. Lodge a request with your proof of purchase, a photo of the serial number label, photos of the problem and a short video of the fold. Our Melbourne team replies within one business day.
Good to know
Seat facing forward On the Vista V3 and Cruz V3, turn the toddler seat to face forward in the second most upright position before you fold. This fixes most folds that stick.
