MamaRoo Baby Swing: setting up, ages and the app

The MamaRoo is UPPAbaby's smart baby swing. It suits babies from birth, with the newborn insert that comes in the box, until they reach 11.3 kg or try to climb out, at about 9 months. It has five motions, speeds you choose and four calming sounds, which you can change on the base or in the UPPAbaby app. It is for awake time with you nearby, not for sleep.

Setting it up

The MamaRoo goes together without tools, and everything you need is in the box. UPPAbaby's Set Up & Go video below walks you through it, and there is a separate video on fitting your baby in the harness.

Changing the motion, speed and sound

There are touch sensitive backlit buttons on the base, so you can find them in a dark room. You can also leave the panel alone and use the UPPAbaby app, Amazon Alexa or Google Home to change the motion, speed and sound from where you are sitting.

Safety

These warnings are on the product page and in the manual:

• Do not use the MamaRoo for infant sleep. A baby should be placed to sleep on a firm, flat surface.
• Do not leave your baby in the MamaRoo unsupervised.
• Place your baby on their back when using it.
• Do not put objects or accessories in a baby's sleep environment.
• Do not place it near a blind, cord, strap or anything similar that could become wrapped around a baby's neck.

If something gets in the way

The swing stalls its own motion if an older sibling, or anything else, gets in the way of it.

Cleaning

Unplug the MamaRoo before you clean anything. Follow the care labels: the seatback fabric and the infant insert can be machine washed in cold water. The full cleaning and care instructions for the seat fabric and the base are in the manual, on the product manuals page. UPPAbaby's video below shows how to take the fabric off and put it back on.

Warranty

The MamaRoo has a two year warranty against manufacturing defects, for the original owner in the country of purchase. To claim, make a warranty claim with your proof of purchase showing the retailer and date, the serial number (on the label on the underside of the MamaRoo), daylight photos of the fault plus one of the whole swing, and a short video if it is a noise or movement problem.
